Coloring

I picked up this table and chairs from a friend and Violet loves it. She likes to sit at it and eat her snacks, read her books, and this morning she was coloring. Such a good little student.

Watching Backyardigans

The embarrassing part here is not that I'm using cartoons to entertain Violet while I make dinner, or that she's sitting right under the TV. The embarrassing part is how old-school our TV is!

Milestone: First color

By (almost) 17 months Violet has quite a vocabulary (animals - "bees"=bee, foods - "eeze"=cheese, objects - "ah-pluh"=airplane), so we have started working on colors. It should not be a surprise to anyone that Violet's first color is "purple."

Domainia

Fighting severe cabin fever and looking for a way to beat the heat this afternoon, we headed to The Domain for frozen yogurt. We found frozen yogurt and so much more. Who knew the outdoor mall could be so fun!?!

Milestone: She figured out a straw

I've been trying to get Violet to drink from a straw for months. It's just easier when we are out if she can drink from a straw, otherwise I have to remember to pack a sippy cup, blah, blah, blah. This weekend at the pool she picked up my water bottle and drank from the straw. Hurray! We've been practicing at home with her straw sippy cup.

Incidentally, she can also blow on her food when it is hot, and sniff the mint growing in the garden. It's funny when sometimes she mixes these up. I ask her to smell the mint, and she blows on it.

Kickin' at 19 weeks

Saturday night, after a fun day at the Tiemann Farm, relaxing on the couch I felt the first real kicks from Raudababy Too. Not the fluttery kind, but the honest-to-goodness kick kind. Love that feeling.
